1. Who we are

LumeClient (the client, the launcher and lumeclient.net) is made and run by the Lumennox team, the people behind the Minecraft server lumennox.net, based in Denmark ("we", "us"). You can reach us at legal@lumennox.net.

By downloading or using LumeClient you agree to these terms. Your Lumennox account, the lumennox.net store and the Lumennox server are also covered by the Lumennox Terms of Service; where the two differ about LumeClient, these terms apply. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

2. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Lumennox account or use LumeClient's online features (sign-in, cosmetics, friends, messages, screenshot sharing, community capes). If you are under 16, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to any purchase.

The launcher and the client also work without a Lumennox account; these terms still apply to that use.

3. The software

LumeClient is free. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the launcher and the client on your own devices for playing Minecraft. You may not:

  • sell, rent or redistribute LumeClient or modified copies of it, or pass it off as your own;
  • change it to cheat, to get an unfair advantage on servers, or to get around paid cosmetics;
  • use it to attack, overload or interfere with our services or anyone else's.

LumeClient updates itself to keep it working and secure. It includes open-source software and Minecraft mods by other authors, each under its own licence; mods you add from the launcher's mod list belong to their authors. Nothing in these terms limits rights those licences give you.

4. Minecraft and servers

LumeClient is not an official Minecraft product. Not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB. Your use of Minecraft is governed by Microsoft's and Mojang's own terms, including the Minecraft EULA.

  • To play on servers that check accounts, you need a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition. You sign in on Microsoft's own page; we never see your Microsoft password.
  • Offline accounts in the launcher are for testing and offline-mode servers only.
  • Every server has its own rules. LumeClient is built to be fair, but it's up to you to follow each server's rules about clients and mods. We can't promise every server allows it, and we aren't responsible for action a server takes against your account.

5. Your Lumennox account

Signing in to LumeClient uses your Lumennox account from lumennox.net. Keep your login private; you're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at legal@lumennox.net if you think someone else is using it.

6. Online features

  • Friends and messages. Messages are delivered through our servers and kept so you can read them on any device. Don't use them for spam or harassment.
  • Screenshot sharing. A shared screenshot gets a public link: anyone with the link can see it. Only share what you're allowed to share.
  • Go Public. When you open a singleplayer world, players connect to it through our relay. You decide who may join; if you allow offline players, anyone can join under any name. You're responsible for your world and what happens in it.
  • Cosmetics others see. What you wear is shown to other LumeClient players, together with your Minecraft name or the name you play under.

Online features are provided as they are and may change, pause or end; see section 14.

7. Cosmetics and purchases

Cosmetics (capes, wings, hats, auras, trails, emotes and paid community capes) are bought in the lumennox.net store, which handles payment, and are tied to your Lumennox account.

  • Cosmetic only. Cosmetics change how you look in LumeClient. They give no gameplay advantage.
  • A licence, not property. Buying a cosmetic gives you a personal right to use it in LumeClient while LumeClient runs. It can't be sold, traded or moved to another account.
  • Wallet credit in your Lumennox wallet can only be spent in the lumennox.net store. It is not money and can't be paid out or exchanged for cash.
  • Right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU you can cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days. You lose this right once delivery has started if, before buying, you expressly agreed to immediate delivery and confirmed that you knew you'd lose the right. Where you haven't given that agreement, you can cancel within 14 days of buying by writing to legal@lumennox.net; we refund within 14 days and remove the item.
  • Chargebacks. If a payment is reversed, the item is removed and we may restrict your account.

If you're unhappy with a purchase for another reason, contact us; your statutory rights (for example if a cosmetic doesn't work as described) always apply.

8. Community capes

You can design capes and submit them to the community store on lumeclient.net/community.

Your rights and the licence you give us

You keep ownership of your design. By submitting it you confirm that you made it or have every right needed to submit it, and you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, review, resize and convert it, show it on our websites, in the launcher and in LumeClient, give it to players for free or sell it if you chose paid, and use it to show off the community store. The licence ends when your cape is removed, except for copies players already own and for records we must keep.

What's allowed

Capes must be your own work and suitable for a young audience. Not allowed: sexual or violent content, hate, harassment or content about real people without their permission, other people's art, logos, brands or characters you don't have rights to, other clients' capes, misleading content, and anything illegal.

Review and removal

Staff review every cape before it's published and decide whether it's free or paid and at what price. We may turn down or take down a cape that breaks these terms or the law, or that we receive a valid complaint about. When a published cape is taken down, it is removed from everyone who owns or wears it. You can delete a cape that's waiting for review or was turned down; once a cape is published, ask us to take it down.

Animated (GIF) capes are available to LumeClient partners and staff.

9. Creator earnings

  • When someone buys your paid community cape, you earn a share of the price they paid. The share is shown when you submit a cape (30% at the time of writing).
  • Earnings are paid as credit in your Lumennox wallet, after a holding period (14 days at the time of writing) so refunds and chargebacks can be handled. Earnings on a sale that is refunded or reversed are cancelled. Wallet credit isn't money; see section 7.
  • You don't earn from buying your own cape. Earnings obtained through fraud or abuse are cancelled.
  • We may change the share or holding period for future sales; changes never apply to sales already made.

10. Rules of conduct

When using LumeClient and its online features, don't:

  • harass, threaten, impersonate or spam others;
  • share illegal content or content that breaks someone else's rights;
  • try to break into accounts, our systems or other players' worlds, or abuse the Go Public relay;
  • use bots, scripts or scraping against our services, or manipulate likes, reports or earnings.

11. Moderation, reporting and appeals

You can report a community cape with the flag button on it, and report anything else (including illegal content) to legal@lumennox.net; see how to report. We look at every report and act on it with care.

If we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you why (for community capes, the reason is shown with the cape), unless the law or safety stops us. If you disagree, reply to that message or write to legal@lumennox.net within six months, and someone who wasn't involved in the first decision will look at it again.

12. Warranty and liability

LumeClient is provided free of charge "as is". We work hard to keep it stable, but we can't promise it is free of bugs, compatible with every server or mod, or always available.

We are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data, or for losses caused by servers, mods or services we don't run. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury, and your mandatory rights as a consumer.

13. Ending

You can stop using LumeClient at any time by uninstalling it, and delete your Lumennox account by writing to us. We may suspend or end your access to online features if you break these terms or the law, or to protect other players; where possible we warn you first. If we ever shut LumeClient down, we'll announce it in advance.

14. Changes

We may update LumeClient and change or remove features. We may also update these terms; if a change matters to you, we'll announce it on this site or in the launcher before it applies. If you keep using LumeClient after a change, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, stop using it.

15. Law and complaints

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring a case in the courts there.

If you have a complaint, write to us first. Consumers in Denmark can also complain to the Danish Consumer Complaints Board via Nævnenes Hus.
